![]() The album of the same name, however, was a rushed affair that generally lacked memorable songs. They finally struck gold in 1965 with the singles "I Can't Explain", "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" and the classic "My Generation". The group then spent a while beating around the bush as a mod-rock act, changing their name to the High Numbers and then back again to the Who. After firing founding drummer Doug Sandom, the band enlisted Keith Moon mid-gig. They became The Who in 1964 after hearing of another band also known as The Detours. With Townshend on guitar, Daltrey dropped the instrument and shifted to singing. After several line-up changes, by 1961 Daltrey (who played guitar in the band) recruited schoolmates John Entwistle on bass and Pete Townshend on guitar. The band was founded by Roger Daltrey as the Detours in 1959. Don't take our word for it: Johnny Rotten, Johnny Ramone, and Joe Strummer (to name only three) are on record as saying something like, "If not for The Who." But of the four, only The Who actually spawned a whole musical genre. They are so influential that when people talk of the great rock bands of The British Invasion, it's often The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Kinks in the same breath. Most recently The Bragg Brothers wrote and directed the MPI Original comedic short A Piece of Cake starring Rich Sommer ( GLOW, Mad Men), which was nominated for Best Narrative Short at the Tribeca Film Festival. The award-winning writing and directing duo Austin and Meredith Bragg will helm Pinball. Boutsikaris received the award for Best Actor at the Phoenix International Film Festival, the Long Island Film Festival, and the SINY Film Festival for his work on the independent film Calling it Quits. His other many television credits include Law and Order, Shameless, Billions, and Sidney Lumet’s 100 Centre Street. On television he can presently be seen as Richard Schweikart in Better Call Saul. Boutsikaris’ films include The Bourne Legacy, Oliver Stone’s W., *batteries not included, Dream Team, Crocodile Dundee 2, and the upcoming Violet directed by Justine Batemen. Boutsikaris was the first American to play Mozart on Broadway in Amadeus, and his Broadway credits include Filumena (directed by Sir Laurence Olivier), Bent, and the 2009 revival of Brighton Beach Memoirs. Two-time Obie Award winner Dennis Boutsikaris will play ‘present day Roger’ in Pinball. In addition to West Side Story, Faist’s film work includes Fritz Böhm’s Wildling and The Grief of Others which both premiered at SXSW, and, most recently, The Atlantic City Story in which he played opposite Jessica Hecht. Additional New York theatre credits include Steven Levenson’s Days of Rage (Second Stage), A Month in the Country (Classic Stage Co.), and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Appropriate (Signature). He was nominated for a Tony Award for originating the role of ‘Connor Murphy’ in the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. He will soon be seen in theatres worldwide as ‘Riff’ in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. Mike Faist will play ‘young Roger’ in Pinball. The film is based on the true story of writer and pinball wizard Roger Sharpe and his journey to overturn New York City’s 35-year ban on pinball. They will join Crystal Reed ( Swamp Thing, Teen Wolf), who was previously announced as the female lead in this MPI Original feature-length dramedy.
